Alexandra Cottages

In the heart of Penge, SE20

We are very pleased to announce that over the last few years the Alexandra Cottages' Association have been presented with the following awards:

The Alexandra Cottages have received a commendation in Penge in Bloom 2014 (a step down from the gold received in previous years).

But at least we can boast the best front and back gardens in Penge!
Many congratulations to Shirley Clements and Peter Benton, respectively.

We are thrilled to have been awarded Gold in the “Most Interesting Residential/Community Area” in this year’s “Penge in Bloom”.

We have also received a verdict of “Outstanding – Level 5″ in the RHS and London in Bloom’s campaign “It’s Your Neighbourhood”!

Well done to everyone for making the cottages such a beautiful place to live in.

Another brilliant result for our estate and residents’ association this year.

We have received a “Level 5 – Outstanding” rating in the RHS “It’s your Neighbourhood” and London in Bloom campaign. We are one of only 9 entrants out of 54 in London to achieve “Outstanding”.

Pauline (and Adrian) collected the certificate from the Lord Mayor of Bromley, Cllr David McBride.

Many thanks to all for making the Alexandra Cottages such a special place to live, and to all the gardeners in particular.
And special thanks to Anna and the gardening club for their work through the year on the communal areas.

We are delighted that the Alexandra Cottages have once again been awarded Gold in the “Most Interesting Residential/Community Area” in this year’s “Penge in Bloom” gardening competition.

Many congratulations to Peter Benton for winning Gold in the “Most Inspired Themed Garden” category, Douglas Roberts for Silver in the “Best Front Garden” and Jane Doxey for a commendation in the same category.

On Friday 17th September, Adrian (Victor Rd) collected the Penge in Bloom 2010 Certificate on behalf of the ARA

We are delighted to have received Silver in the “Best Amateur Horticultural Contribution to an Outdoor Residential Area” category.

“Outstanding” in the “Neighbourhood 0-300 household” category.

The judges commented:

A delightful entry.
The local committee have continued to maintain high standards and have organised a numbers of community events some involving children. They are currently in negotiations with the Council to replace the modern street lighting with something more appropriate to the ‘Victorian’ style cottage estate.
Most of the front gardens are eye-catching – but some residents need to be encouraged to do more and so enhance the area further.

We are delighted to have received a Silver in the “Most Interesting Residential/Communal Area” category
